Where does the money we raise go?

Auction proceeds cover over half of next year’s PTA budget, funding PTA programs such as: art, library, sensory motor, garden and outdoor education, as well as community events, student and teacher support programs – all of which are not covered by SFUSD. We raise funds each year for the following school year, so our fundraising goals reflect next year’s budget.

 

This is my first Auction event—any tips??

• Participate in whatever way you’re comfortable with – we’re excited you’re a part of our community! 

• Watch for details about your child’s classroom art project – we recommend considering pooling a bid with other families in your class to share multi-piece art! 

• Buy early bird tickets for the best deal, and input your credit card ahead of Auction to save you time at auction. You can also pay for your auction winnings with a check and save Rooftop the CC fees!

Should I purchase tickets in advance?

You don’t have to, but we strongly recommend buying your tickets online before the event – plus you’ll get the best deal buying early bird tickets! Knowing the number of guests ahead of time ensures we have plenty of food and drink for you all! If you end up being able to come at the last minute, we’ll have a small amount of tickets at a higher price – available at the door.

What does my ticket purchase?

Tickets are offered at as minimal cost as possible to cover the expenses involved in putting on our live event (the auctioneer, venue, food, drinks – anything we can’t get donated).

 

Is it necessary to spend a lot of money? 

Absolutely NOT! This is meant to be a party to celebrate our school as much as it is a fundraiser. There are amazing opportunities to opt into affordable Count-Me-In Parties held by our community members and also Rooftop’s Own goods and services from our community members. So, we have items at various price-points. And if you end up not feeling comfortable bidding, don’t worry. Just come for the fantastic company and community, plus the fun dancing and delicious food!

What happens at the auction?

Rooftop’s auction consists of a silent online auction AND  an in-person live- and silent auction event.  You can participate in either – preferably both! And all participation supports Rooftop!

​

• Online Auction: Prior to our Auction Event, we’ll hold a week-long Online Auction where you can support our school by bidding on items donated by the community – all from the comfort of your home!  Please note that most gift certificates and tickets will be available at our Online Auction only.

• Live Auction: A selection of items will be auctioned live, with fun chatting to keep the bidding lively. You can bid on an item by raising your bid number. This is the biggest party of the year where you can bid on items reserved for the Live Auction from the stage or the in-person Silent Auction. This includes: Classroom Art Projects, fabulous vacations, tickets to marquis sports and cultural events, Count-Me-In Parties, Faculty Fun, and a few special items donated by our community. During the event, you can also make a 100% deductible donation during Fund-a-need. What are Count-Me-In Parties?

• Classroom Art Projects: Each class will create an art project that will be available for bidding. These are very special creations!

• Raise the Rooftop: Fund-a-need is a direct appeal for cash donations (funds) to support part of our children’s education (the needs). The auctioneer will ask for pledges at varying levels, starting high and working his way down. We encourage you to contribute at the level that is right for you.

• Extra fun: We’ll have signature cocktails, and other surprises to bring some Rooftop Spirit to the event, at Auction!

  • 10% of sales from a signature cocktail go straight to the Rooftop PTA.

  Put Rooftop on the menu or map:

  • 10% of sales from that item go to the PTA.

• Vacation Homes

  • Got a cabin, beach house, or city pad you can share?

  • Homes that can be sold more than once are gold: they raise twice the money in the same amount of time.

• Year-Long Treats & Services
  Great for businesses or personal connections:

  • Monthly house cleaning for a year

  • Pizza-of-the-month

  • Tutoring sessions
    These can be donated by a business, secured through a relationship, or purchased and donated by you.

• Signed Celebrity Swag & Collectibles
  We’re a little torn on this one, but it can be a huge hit:

  • Autographed (or not) K-pop posters, Labubu collectibles, baseballs/basketballs, and more.

  • The key: we make sure kids know about these items before the auction so they remind (okay, nag!) their parents to bid.
