Rooftop Auction & Children's Art Show
SAVE THE DATE FOR ROOFTOP'S 2027 AUCTION!
When: Saturday, March 13, 2027 - 5pm to 10pm

Where: SOMArts (same location as last year)

All you need to know about the biggest fundraiser of the year!

Where does the money go?

Auction proceeds cover over half of next year’s PTA budget, funding programs SFUSD doesn't cover: art, library, sensory motor, garden, outdoor education, community events, and student and teacher support. We raise funds each year for the following school year, so our goals reflect next year’s budget.

This is my first Auction event—any tips?

Participate however feels comfortable; we're glad you're part of our community. Watch for details on your child's classroom art project (consider pooling a bid with other families to share multi piece art). Buy early bird tickets for the best deal, and enter your credit card ahead of time to save time at the event. You can also pay for winnings by check to save Rooftop the credit card fees.

Should I buy tickets in advance?

You don’t have to, but we strongly recommend it: early bird tickets are the best deal, and knowing guest counts ahead of time helps us plan enough food and drink. A small number of tickets will be available at the door at a higher price for last minute guests.

What does my ticket cover?

Tickets are priced to cover only what running the event requires, such as the auctioneer, venue, and food and drinks we can’t get donated.

Do I need to spend a lot of money?

Not at all. This is a party to celebrate our school as much as a fundraiser. Affordable Count Me In Parties and Rooftop's own goods and services are available at a range of price points. and ifs bidding isn't your thing, just come for the company, dancing, and food.

What happens at the auction?

Rooftop’s auction includes a silent online auction AND  an in-person live- and silent auction event. You're welcome to join either, or both. Every bit of participation supports Rooftop.

  • Online Auction: A week long online auction before the event lets you bid on donated items from home. Most gift certificates and tickets are available online only.

  • Live Auction: A selection of items are auctioned live, with lively bidding by raising your bid number. This is the year's biggest party, featuring classroom art projects, vacations, tickets to marquee sports and cultural events, Count-Me-In Parties, Faculty Fun, and special community donated items. You can also make a fully deductible gift during Fund a Need.

  • Classroom Art Projects: Each class creates a special art project for bidding.

  • Raise the Rooftop (Fund-a-Need): A direct appeal for cash donations supporting our children’s education. The auctioneer calls out pledge levels from high to low; contribute at whatever level is right for you.

  • Extra fun: Signature cocktails and other surprises bring Rooftop Spirit to the night!

🎉Experiences & Events We’d Love to Offer 🎉

Help us build an auction catalog people can’t resist:

  • Dinner Events: Host or connect us to a special dinner, chef’s table, or “foodie night out.”

  • Cocktail Naming at a Local (or Rooftop-Owned) Bar: 10% of sales from a signature cocktail go straight to the Rooftop PTA.

  • Naming Rights: Put Rooftop on the menu or map, such as a garden, a signature sandwich, sushi roll, microbrew, specialty dessert, signature pasta, burrito, or coffee, with 10% of related sales going to the PTA.

  • Excursions & Adventures: Fishing trips, a sail around the Bay, guided hikes, workout classes, or behind-the-scenes experiences at places like Pixar, Robotics labs, Apple, or other cool workplaces.

  • Vacation Homes: Have a cabin, beach house, or city getaway to share? Homes that can be auctioned more than once raise double in the same amount of time.

  • Year-Long Treats & Services: Great for businesses or personal connections, like monthly house cleaning, pizza-of-the-month, tutoring sessions, and more. These can be donated by a business, secured through a relationship, or purchased and donated by you.

  • Signed Celebrity Swag & Collectibles: Autographed (or not) posters, collectibles, sports memorabilia, and more. Letting kids know about these items ahead of time is the secret to great bidding (they'll remind their parents!).
